Your Related Arts Facilitators:

Carl Harvey Media Specialist Extraordinaire!
Carl Harvey is the school librarian at North Elementary School in Noblesville, Indiana.  The library program at North has been recognized with many awards including the National School Library Media Program of the Year Award in 2007.  Carl is active member of the profession serving in various roles including President of the Association for Indiana Media Educators (2002-2003), President of the Indiana Library Federation (2008), and currently is President-Elect of the American Association of School Librarians.  He has published three professional books and written articles for most of the major school library professional journals.  For C.L.A.S.S., Carl has been a presenter during Summer Institute and for the last 5 year has help facilitate our Related Arts Days.  He is also the author of the monthly C.LA.S.S E-Tools.  Carl is also widely known for his collection of neckties – 325 at last count – and yes, they are all organized and sorted by color!

Diane Barton Music Genius!

Diane Barton is a music specialist who teaches students in grades K-5 and beginning fifth grade band at Hickory Center and Oak View Elementary in the Northwest Allen County School System.  Her favorite instruments are bassoon, piano, and recorder.  She has received recognition as a Teacher of the Year finalist, Indiana Music Educators Association Music Teacher of the Year, and most recently honored as the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Music Educator of the Year.  Diane is excited to be part of the C.L.A.S.S. related arts team and to share and learn with great educators from across Indiana and the U.S.!

Daniel Zapata Master Artist!

Daniel Zapata is an art teacher and an artist.  He is a graduate of Indiana University where he honed his oil painting skills.  Daniel feels like the luckiest person in the world because he gets to share his love of art with kids.  His philosophy in the classroom is to expose the students to many different styles of art and artists while having a lot of fun.  When not teaching or coaching, Daniel loves traveling with his wife Lara or hanging out at home with their two cats, Buddha and Burnie.
